MOORE LAW
PRIVACY POLICY

Moore Law wants to protect the privacy of our clients.

What personal data do we collect and why?

We obtain client’s personal and business contact details in order to be able to contact them and send/receive information via the internet.

When people visit our website or make an inquiry, we may require a name and email address.

We may disclose client personal information if it is permitted through our Terms of Engagement or if it is authorised by you or if it is required by law.

We require personal data for legal transactions, such as in conveyancing and to comply with the NZ Anti-Money Laundering and Countering Financing of Terrorism Act 2009. For example, we require client photo ID, proof of address and personal or business/Trust IRD numbers for the tax statements that are required by Land Information NZ in purchasing and selling a property.

Security

To encourage a secure environment we have engaged Safemode, an IT company in Whanganui to provide internet security on all of our software programmes and hardware.

We may store your personal information in a hard copy form or electronically. Our IT provider also stores this information and we have cloud storage outside of New Zealand.

We take all reasonable steps to ensure your personal information is secure and to prevent unauthorised access, disclosure or hacking.

The legal profession does require privileged information from clients but our staff are advised of their professional responsibilities in relation to this private information.

If a client wishes to access their personal information we hold or there is any reason for any client or person to feel that their privacy has been breached, please contact our Senior Partner Richard Moore rm@moorelaw.co.nz for advice.
